It is very common to see companies scrambling to get their website up. Companies make their websites as if they were brochures online. There is standard stale information with pretty faces. Or more like hoardings or billboards which is completely non interactive. Blogs offer a more personal form of communication and allow people to follow the company at close quarters. It is often that journalists refer to official blogs of corporates for factual information or for any kind of research. Companies can build in regular stream of visitors by allowing them to subscribe to the blog.

4.Corporate presence on Networking Sites

Linked In is the most used Business Networking Site and Facebook and Orkut are the most used social networking sites in India. Companies must create their profiles for people to learn more about what they do and the nature of business they are in Linked In is used by employees to research companies and their employees. Also the groups allow employees to connect with likeminded people and engage in thought leadership for their firms.(See adjoining video on common craft on Linked In)

Facebook and Orkut provide features for users to join groups and discuss about companies. Several potential employees join these groups and forums to understand company policies and practices.

5.Create Twitter profile for the company

One of the fanciest terms used these days is Twitter. And like most fancy terms, Twitter too is not understood, much less practiced by companies. Twitter is a microblogging tool that allows users to voice out 140 character messages in the form of ‘Tweets’. Twitter helps in building a community by reaching out to targeted users and creates awareness for the brand. (See adjoining video - common craft video on youtube)

Companies having presence on twitter can use it to seek feedback from users about their products and services. It can also be used to inform about new offerings and educate them about correct usage of the product or service. The trick in Twitter is to build up followers and send out interesting and informative tweets. With interesting tweets, other followers will retweet the same message thereby causing virality of brand message.

Companies like Innocent fruit drinks based out of London use Twitter to announce their financial results and even keep tweeting during their AGMs to let people know the key decisions that are being announced by the company. So people who could not attend the AGM are still updated on the performance

Windchimes, using its understanding of the medium, will create a corporate profile on Twitter. It will identify the right set of followers and connect with them. Windchimes will tweet regularly on behalf of the company providing its followers information that they will value
